There are lots of different types of data and categories of data you can choose from, and by default it selects everything. But everything can be quite a lot of data so you might want to be s bit more selective. I’m going to uncheck everything and choose just Messages. After you select the file or data that you want to restore, you can choose the “Restore” section. To restore deleted data to your device. During setup the app tells you that you need to have a rooted device to access the “Deep Scan” functionality and even offers to do your rooting for you. While a nice idea in principle, this option sadly didn’t work for me. As there’s a separate Android app for each manufacturer (Samsung, HTC, Sony etc.), maybe it got confused because I have an unlocked HTC One M8 running LineageOS, rather than the default HTC UI. ConsThe Deep Scan feature needs your phone to be rooted. I can grab everything if so desired, but that’s a bit much with over 1000 images. Uncheck everything, scroll through to find the desired images, and I’m ready to proceed: "PhoneRescue could be a very useful tool for any iOS device user... if you're looking for a data recovery tool for your device, this may be worth a look."
